If a visa is required to enter Switzerland, it must be obtained before departure from the country of origin through the relevant Swiss embassy or consulate. Further information is available from the FDFA (Federal Department of Foreign Affairs) Please allow sufficient time to ensure that all necessary steps can be completed in good time.

 

The following procedure applies for requesting an invitation letter for visa purposes:

 

1. The athlete must first officially register for the World Masters Mountain Running Championships 2027 and pay the entry fee.

 

2. The athlete then submits a request for an invitation letter to the Organising Committee via their national federation. The request must include the following information:

• Full name, first and last name as stated in the passport

• Gender

• Date of birth

• Passport number

• Passport expiry date

• Role within the team, athlete or official

• Date of entry into Switzerland and date of departure

• Proof of payment of the entry fee

 

3. The Local Organising Committee will then issue an invitation letter.

 

4. Once the invitation letter has been received, the athlete may schedule an appointment with the relevant Swiss embassy or consulate.

 

If the national federation does not validate the request, or if the relevant embassy or consulate refuses the appointment or the visa, the WMRA and the Organising Committee reserve the right to refund the entry fee, less any bank charges.

 

Refunds will only be granted upon presentation of valid proof, for example confirmation from the national federation or from the relevant embassy or consulate
